Modena Week-End:logo Bastiglia. "Museum of peasant life"

    Bastiglia: Museum of peasant life

In a building adjoining the Town Hall, the town of Bastiglia has established a museum of agricultural implements and peasant life in which the exhibits are grouped partly by setting (the kitchen, the wine cellar, the dairy, etc.) and partly by topic (heavy agricultural implements drawn by animals, equipment for weaving fabrics, and so on).

Home-made items for children such as toys made from wire, catapults and guns made from clothes-pegs are especially fascinating. The Museum is normally open to the public in the morning of the last Sunday of every month and every Sunday afternoon, but visits by schools and groups can be arranged at other times on request, to be made at the Town Hall. Elderly people who actually have experience of using many of the items on show are also available as guides by prior arrangement.
